About Me

My name is Larissa Kempf. I am currently a student at Northwestern Health Sciences University pursuing my masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I grew up on the outskirts of Aberdeen, SD and attended Norther State University. I received my bachelor of science and Associates degree in Biotechnology while at Norther State University. I became interested in health care in high school where I shadowed a Chiropractor and began looking into other alternative medicines. I began learning about East Asian and Chinese medicine in undergraduate and shortly after my graduation I found myself moving to Bloomington, MN and enrolling in a Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

During my time at Northwestern Health Sciences University I served as President of the Student Minnesota Acupuncture Association club, President of the Acupuncture Study Club, and spend a year serving as Student Senate Treasurer. I worked many clinic rotations while earning my degree. Multiple at the University Health Services clinic treating my fellow students and their immediate family. Multiple at the Bloomington Natural Care Clinic where I treated members of the Bloomington community. I provided free treatments to patients at Pillsbury House in Minneapolis, and provided treatments to patients in Regions hospital in St. Paul. I had the unique opportunity to intern at the Human Performance Center on campus where I had the pleasure of treating athletes from many different sports. I worked with NFL alumni, the US Olympic tug of war team, the Minnesota Vixen women’s football team and many more.

I have a special interest in working with muscular skeletal dysfunction and pain. My internships at the hospital and Human Performance Center allowed me gain knowledge and experience treating pain and injuries due to trauma as well as chronic pain.

I will graduate in August of 2019 and will become a Nationally certified Acupuncturist shortly after. I then plan to open a practice in Aberdeen, SD. I will work very hard to begin practice as soon as possible in late fall 2019. Follow my progress on Facebook and Instagram (links below)! As always, feel free to send me a message or ask any questions you might have!

Be well, and see you soon!

—Larissa Kempf
